looklook: twentysevennames
Introducing our latest blog column: look look! Each week we’ll feature look books from some of the hottest emerging designers around the world that will have you drooling, lusting, and emptying your piggy banks. (See our last edition here.) This week, we’re loving Twentysevennames, a New Zealand-based brand making waves on the interwebs and beyond.
Nobody whips up effortless summer style quite like designers Rachel Easting and Anjali Stewart of Twenty-Seven Names. Its no wonder they’ve developed a cult-like following since their launch almost 5 years ago. And while this dynamic duo are no longer freshman on the design front, their collections are always reminiscent of recess days at school.
(See our Childhood Play feature with Twentysevennames in our new Virgin Issue!)
Their flirty new summer collection falls somewhere between Laura Engels Wilder and Alicia Silverstone circa 1993, with gauzy prairie dresses, lacey crop tops and floral-print pleated shorts (styled, all, with bobby socks and hiking boots). Rounding out the collection are lilac crochet swimsuits, sheer chiffon cocktail dresses, and a series of printed tees. Should you be seeking light summer outerwear, we’re digging the light linen blazers and colored denim jackets. And while you may think the time zone difference is a bummer, think again. The crew down under is weathering through winter while we gear up for summer, so shopping NZ brands now can only mean one thing- end of season sales!
