dujour loves you

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!

Here we are again. Back to a place we love. A place where we can be surrounded by the immeasurable amount of talent and creative genius that is so easily overlooked in the independent world. But don’t call it a comeback…we like to think of it as a rebirth. And what better day to present our website relaunch than on the day of love!

Firstly, there wouldn’t be a ‘comeback’ if there was no apology, at least for us. Some people vanish and we never know why, but we owe more to the fans of Dujour than that. So our sincere and deepest apologies to our fans, readers and supporters that we have come to know from all over the world. Last summer the team had a very bad string of luck. It started off with the transition from one printing company to another (some of you may have received email after email saying your copy would arrive soon, trust us, it annoyed the heck out of us having to cause such a hold up) then I (Letitia) lost someone very close to me after a long battle to hold on. Lets just say he was part of my DNA. It all started to fall apart from there, and like a grey cloud that wouldn’t pass until months later, Dujour slowly slid off the face of the Earth. Looking back, of course we have gotten wonderful emails of support and suggestions that we should have hired someone to take care of the outstanding orders, the PR, the website, etc. but some things just lose their sense of purpose when you are wrapped in tragedy, and you feel all but hopeless.

But we are back! And I am so elated that our fans were here waiting for us. We understand your frustration and the impatience of having to wait so long for a new issue from the Dujour team, but rest assured, we will slowly but steadily win the race! We are sending out copies for those who ordered, we have relaunched the website as you can see (do you like!?) and now all the info you’ve ever wanted is here. You can contact us, submit to us, subscribe to us, and follow us daily on this daily blog. Just a note however, that we have decided to pause new print copy orders, as it would be unfair to those who are still waiting. Our priority and energies are for them right now. But the wait won’t be long, everyone should get their copies by March 1, and we can start up orders once again after that! And as always, we have HUGE plans for new and exciting projects in the works, of course including our 2 year anniversary issue spectacular! With all the wisdom and knowledge gained over the last year, the rebirth of Dujour will be an exciting one, so stay tuned.

So, please accept our collective wishes for a safe and happy holiday today and our thanks for following along on our journey as we create a magazine that we are proud to share. Without you and your support, this journey wouldn’t even happen, and we are grateful to each and every one of you who have followed along, encouraged and inspired us along the way. The world of independent publishing can be an uphill mountain climb that you can never seem to understand its hardships until you are immersed in it yourself, so we want to make sure you understand just how much we appreciate your readership. We will never be Vogue, but we will be DUJOUR. And DUJOUR is a magazine made solely to share the love and be loved….by those who are talented, creative, visionaries, bloggers, humble, girly, creators, thinkers, or even artistic teenagers in far away cities with the population of 400. We want to be more than just a magazine, we’re a community, and we’re your friend.
