dujour mag cover contest!

Its that time again guys and dolls. Long time fans and devoted Dujour followers know this event all too well. This is our third cover contest, and it gets better each time!

Last year’s contest was for our now collector’s item Art Issue and went down in blogger history with over 1000 votes on our blog alone! We hope to top that this year, because as we always say, nothing means more than the wishes of our readers. Your wish is our command. So make your wish come true by voting below!

Instructions are easy. You have a frothy and delightful helping of cover options below, all numbered at the top. You can comment here or on any of the blogs running our contest. Simply leave the number of the cover and any of your usual love/hate comments. Votes will be tallied after one week and winners will be announced days before the new and breathtaking new ____ Issue hits stands! And yes, we are leaving the title blank because…………drum roll please….commenters selected at random who guess the correct theme of this new issue will be sent a Dujour snail mail goody bag!

Happy voting!

On a secondthought the title theme could also be an homage to Nabokov’s “Lolita”.

I love both #4 and #5 – but vote for # 4 I also love the lace top and the innocence.

Cover #4 would appeal to a wider range of girls at a first look/glance. Sweet but not overly whimsical for a first look.

    Cover #5!!

I’m admittedly biased towards cover #4.

A few months ago I found the lace blouse the model is wearing at a Salvation Army in Rockland, Maine. It was too small for me, but I figured I’d just buy it and then worry about finding it a good home. I asked Anja V. of Clever Nettle if I might send it to her. I told her that she more than welcome to sell the blouse in her etsy shop or keep it. Either way, I knew it would have better luck finding a good home than sitting in my closet.

Come to find out, this little blouse has made quite a journey worthy of a story. From a thrift store in coastal Maine, to Portland, Oregon… into the hands of Dujour Magazine. And this, this story makes the impulse and the effort to give new life to a darling lace blouse completely worth the while.

And so, yes, of course I vote for the story of the Cover of #4.

The LAST ONE!! Why? It is going to hold the eye for a longer time- her look is gaze-y and deep- makes you want to keep looking. Good, balanced composition. Good light. The lace covering the face is interesting but not a cover shot- too dark!

    I love the last shot.

The model looks so angelic . I can totally see how it would be perfect for the cover of a magazine.

    Possible theme: Vintage Lace.

Cover #2 Because there is nothing sexier and more romantic at the same time than a confident woman being in balance with her body and showing it. I also love the romantic summer-lace aesthetic. Great Work.

Number 3! I adore the Big Love/Virgin Suicides feel of it.

I like the first one….I just feel like the girls are a bit young in the other photos and I’m not one for boobs on a cover.

    COVER #1!!

It’s gorgeous and atmospheric and desperate, I love the lighting and her fringe is right on trend.
I’d guess that the theme of the issue is “Delicate”. I see a lot of delicate details in the photos and the lace is obviously part of that.

3 definitely reminds me of Virgin Suicides and therefore gets my vote! If i were to guess at the title i’d probably say The…Romance Issue x

It has to be cover 1 – I love it as it’s retrotastic & think it’s mysterious enough to appeal to a wide age group.

Cover1 – the rest are a bit hum-ho fashion shoot.
I like the playing with lace and close up of the face and hands business :)

I choose photo #4. I think it’s so innocent and so pretty! Plus, that pink bow is just too cute. :)

If I had to guess the theme, I would have to say it definitely has something to do with the Lisbon sisters of the Virgin Suicides. My guess would either be:

    1. Romance Issue
    2. Young American Girls Issue
    5. Lace Issue

It’s hard to make up my mind. :)
